Canterbury & District Pensioners Forum

What We Do
Canterbury & District Pensioners’ Forum is an independent campaigning and consultative group for all over 50’s in the Canterbury District area. We are a dynamic group of nearly 300 members; and we pride ourselves on our willingness to speak up and campaign hard for better facilities and to improve the quality of life for older people in our community.

Our Main Goals Are
To campaign for an increased state pension
To work with the local Health Service on all of the issues that
          affect older people
To provide a voice on your behalf with Kent Adult Social Services
To work with the Canterbury City Council and Kent County Council on your behalf

We Also
Hold interesting open meetings with good speakers and allow
          you to have your say!
Issue a quarterly newsletter with all of the latest information
in regard to national and local issues; we give you notice
of the next meeting to be held
We also have a Silver Song Club

Across the country, forums like ours are harnessing the skills, experience and abilities of older people to resolve important local issues such as health care provision; better local public transport; combating crime. We are also active on national issues campaigning for better pensions and challenging age discrimination.

We are also affiliated to the National Pensioners Convention
This is the umbrella organisation that brings together all of the groups representing older people across the country. They consult with Government on our behalf.
