Information
Sing For Your Life
Sing for Your Life runs a network of Silver Song Clubs across the country. People living independently are brought together to share in the joy of making music.
There is ample evidence to show that taking part in social music has a positive impact on both physical and mental health.
Clubs meet each month and are led by trained people. Ninety-minute sessions are promoted, refreshments are provided and help can be arranged with transport if necessary.
Please see information re our Song Club under our NEWS heading.

News from the National Pensioners Convention:
Around 2.4 million older people are spending more than 10% on fuel bills; the NPC calls on the Government to give further help to pensioners this winter to keep them warm and well.
FUEL POVERTY FACTS
- Nearly 90 per cent of all excess winter deaths are of people over the age of 65.
- There were 22,300 excess winter deaths of older people last year, and 260,000 since 1997.
- Almost one in three older people live in homes with inadequate heating or insulation making their homes more difficult to heat and/or keep warm.
- More than 1 in 4 people living in fuel poverty are over 70 years old
PENSIONS
The NPC has requested a meeting with the new secretary of state for work and pensions, James Purnell. We are asking all MPs to sign Early Day Motion 658 in support of our pension centenary campaign to raise the basic state pension above the official poverty line. There are petitions, regional rallies and national events planned. For more details visit www.pension100.co.uk.
